"CHARLIE AND THE SENIORS STORY"
1976 - 1980

The original Charlie & the seniors was made up of, Steve Prescott, (Bass Guitar), Charlie Force, (Lead Vocals), Mike Bonin, (Rythm and Lead Guitar), Frank Burghoffer, (Drums),

and me, Dan Saville, a.k.a. Danny B. Sneekers, (Rythm & Lead Guitar)! What really added to our sound was the fact that each of us could also sing lead and backup vocals, thus giving us very

powerful vocal harmonies along with our tight musical sound.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

The concept of the band was thought of by Steve and
Frank,(Bass player and Drummer), and they were also
responsible for making the trip to Vancouver, B.C.,
Canada to contact a booking agency by the name of,
Big Country Productions,
owned and operated by a man named Les Vogt, an early Rock Star him self!

Charlie and myself had very limited knowledge of 1950's Rock N Roll but within 3 weeks time we almost became authorities in that area. From day one during the late evenings, Charlie and I would put on old 50's records and write out the lyrics to as many songs as we could until we could not stay awake any longer. Charlie did most of the writing while I worked out the chords on the guitar and then it was time to grab whatever sleep we could. Late morning the following day the whole band got together and all the songs we had written out and learned the night before were put together along with their vocal harmonies. The same learning process started all over again that same night for myself and Charlie. Within a period of about three weeks we had a song list of around one hundred 50's songs. Yes, we were beyond tired to say the least!

Within one month the van was packed, and Charlie & the Seniors were on the road headed to Terrace B.C. Canada, for our first gig. At the time, Les Vogt, also booked Roy Orbison, and later we found out that we could have done a concert tour with Roy if only we would have had the band together just two weeks earlier than we did. What a joy that would have been!
